101km in a single loop with only 200m of tarmac is a pretty unique off road event in the UK. However that is what the Kielder 101 promised, and it delivered. Kielder is known for its numerous fireroads, however the event weaved in a good mix of man-made trail (both Kielder and Newcastleton Red Routes feature) and old school riding across wild moors. As there was no tarmac, the fireroads gave riders a chance to up their average speed and make the event a physical as well as technical challenge. Just perfect for their M109C full sus 29ers.
